Our client in Washington DC is seeking a Web Developer to perform mission critical complex software design, development, enhancement, improvement, and maintenance support for applications. This person will ensure the 24 X 7 availability of my client's website and all site Channels: Membership Products and Services, Media Properties, TV, Radio, ATM, Bulletin, etc are 100% available to achieve dashboard goals for Membership Registration, Member Value and enhanced Member Experience.
COMPENSATION/COMMENTS:
$56-59/hr (DOE) - Plus APR Medical/Dental Benefits package, 401k plan, etc.. - benefits available shortly into this contract (30+ days - starting with the 1st of the following month of the start date).
If an offer is made, a 7 year criminal background check and education verification will be conducted. Candidate must be pass both screenings to be hired.

Skills/Requirements:
4-6 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
Experience with Java/J2EE development, database engineering, software integration, and multi-tier applications architecture required.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Internet applications and protocols --experience with Perl and/or Python languages for both Internet applications and system administration tasks
Experience with Java, JSP, JBoss, Linux OS and file management;
Knowledge of or experience with SQL and relational databases (preferably MySQL)
Understanding of TCP/IP networking principles; knowledge of HTML coding using contemporary web software programs.
Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
Experience building and/or expanding new technical capabilities/functions.
Solid understanding of emerging technologies and enterprise systems (content management systems, personalization software, etc.).
Ability to support team, while being an advocate for clients and members.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information into actionable insights.

Functions/Responsibilites:
Develops, tests, and implements internet applications using enterprise approved technologies to ensure high performance and security in production environment.
Manages the Internet and departmental intranet web servers and applications (both purchased and developed).
Monitors public facing and departmental web servers and applications to ensure the web sites and applications are functioning properly.
Takes corrective action when hardware or software problems are discovered.
Provides best practice guidance to colleagues and clients during web project discovery and strategy phase to ensure applications developed in support of internet projects will be stable, secure, scalable, and maintainable.
Provides off hours on-call support for production systems on a rotating basis.
