Position Summary
Yahoo! Content and Search Platforms is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in distributed computing, machine learning and data mining techniques to help improve the relevance and engagement of our media products. The candidate will work in collaboration with engineers and scientists in the US and other countries to prototype and productize platforms for the next generation products.

Skills/Requirements:
B.S. Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent, M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.
Practical experience in Java, C++, and/or C, building large-scale production systems.
Experience in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques like clustering, classification, entity recognition.
Proficient in UNIX/Linux.
Excellent communication skills.
Understanding of Grid computing, Hadoop, and distributed programming.
Proficient in Perl, Python or other scripting languages.
Strong desire to innovate.
Self-starter and team player.
Functions/Responsibilites:
Apply probabilistic, machine learning and data mining techniques to build models to improve relevance and user experience.
Rapidly prototype methods, libraries, and platforms for enriching Yahoo content.
Work closely with colleagues on the engineering and sciences team to apply research to production data.
Participate in cross-functional teams including internal customers, partners, and key stakeholders.
Lead teams of developers to deliver production-ready code in a timely manner.
