This position requires an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to join the Yahoo! Video Application Platform Engineering team. This team manages many of the core server-side systems that enable processing, storage, querying and retrieving streaming media data These systems facilitate Yahoo properties to processing and accessing video streaming services.

You will be involved in the efforts for designing, developing, maintaining and enhancing the highly visible infrastructure systems.

Skills/Requirements: 
5+ years of applicable experience with past 3 or more years in web related application development, preferably consumer oriented products
Software development experience, or comparable education, in the following areas
Strong understanding and experience with object oriented programming
Expert Knowledge in Java programming and debugging environment
Expertise in Web Service architectures using REST/SOAP/equivalent
Multithreaded programming experience
XML/XSLT and Web Services experience
RDBMS experience (Oracle, MySQL)
Linux/Unix, Apache experience
Scripting (PHP, JavaScript)
Experience in designing, developing, and deploying efficient, fault-tolerant and scalable distributed applications (server-side applications).Technical
Experience in designing, developing, and deploying efficient, fault-tolerant and scalable distributed applications (server-side applications).
Good debugging and testing skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to work efficiently in a team environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willing to gain knowledge and appropriate interest in emerging tools and technologies in the industry.
