Job Description:
The Yahoo! Social Platform team is looking for a senior white box QA Engineer to deliver world class services and platforms for the Yahoo Open Social division. Social Platforms include multiple back-end products responsible for providing a more relevant, customized and cohesive user experience across all of Yahoo!.
Skills/Requirements:
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated senior QA engineer with strong development skills and in-depth knowledge of QA processes and tools with a passion for testing to lead multiple QA teams both locally and offshore.
The ideal candidate should have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of working with QA and non-QA groups and an extensive background in test coverage of complex web applications with a strong track record of API level testing, leveraging automated test suites, evaluating test coverage, providing high-quality feedback on the state of the product and building strong relationships with other teams.
Strong management, mentoring, and communication skills are a big plus.
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
Total 7+ years of outstanding track record in the software industry.
API automation testing with working experience on automation framework such as JUnit or CPPUnit.
Customer focus, ability to triage issues, react well to changes, work with teams and being able to multi-task on multiple products and projects.
Excellent leadership, management, mentoring, communication, collaboration, reporting, analytic and problem solving skills.
Self-starter, team player, highly organized, infrastructure and process-oriented, strong people and technical leadership.
Experience with on-boarding multiple customers and ensuring their QA team’s success
Experience leading QA teams for multiple products/platforms
Experience with increasing productivity and/or efficiency of QA teams
Experience working with offshore teams
Agile development environment experience
Highly proficient in a Unix/Linux environment.
Solid 5+ years of expertise in Java/C++ development or hands-on white box in Java/C++ with the ability to debug and troubleshoot code.
Strong in at least one OOP language and one scripting language, Java and PHP preferred.
Experience with internet protocols such as REST, JSON, and XML
Experience with tools such as curl
Experience in Database such as MYSQL
Experience in any code coverage tool
Experience in any source control tool
Experience in Perl
Experience in GUI automation tools such as Selenium
Experience with oAuth/Authentication testing
Experience with testing or simulating distributed systems
Functions/Responsibilites:
In this role, you will define test strategy, review & approve test plans, drive the creation and execution of test plans & scripts, review product requirements, review technical specifications, participate in defining/selecting appropriate test tools, define & drive automation strategy, define/create test harnesses and report product failures.
You must be able to work with developers, program managers, product managers and the operations team.
You must have critical thinking skills and solid & effective communication skills, both verbal and written. You must be able to follow/deliver on project milestones, evaluate & communicate results and investigate product features (including ad hoc testing).
You would also be responsible for introducing or refining the processes required that ensure the overall quality of the product.
Your responsibilities will include leading and building a strong white-box QA team, test planning and implementation of test cases to ensure the highest quality deliverables for multiple product/platforms.
You will work closely with the development, program management, release engineering and operations teams to test and roll out releases.
