We at YPS are chartered with taking user engagement on Yahoo! websites to the next level. To achieve that goal we are in the process of building the next generation platform called UGCCloud . You will help define and drive architecture of platforms and tools that power the development of UGCCloud platform.

You will help build backend technologies to enable rapid innovation of fun and engaging products for Yahoo! consumers. The platforms that we create at Yahoo! are diverse but well integrated and include Media, Communications, Communities, Search, Data, Monetization, and Operations platform. The platforms we build at Yahoo! facilitate integration of large number of online services, development of global solutions, and cost-effective operations. You will work in a wide range of technologies that include: XML, RDF, Webservices, OOAD, Database Design, API design, Performance Engineering, Security, Extreme Scalability, Processing Frameworks, Rich Media, etc.

Your job will also entail guiding & mentoring junior members of the team with sound architecture & design.

Skills/Requirements: 
8+ years experience with Large Scale architectures
Must Have: Strong hands-on experience with building applications using Languages (some of C / C++ / Java / Perl / Python / Ruby / PHP). Pereferably Java.
Must Have: In Depth knowledge in one or more of these fields is mandatory: Databases / Networking / OS / Distributed Computing / Grid Computing / Web Services
Must Have: In Depth knowledge in one or more of these fields is mandatory: Databases / Networking / OS / Distributed Computing / Grid Computing / Web Services
Must Have: Exposure to Web technologies, Web standards & protocols.
Nice to Have: Experience in Production Web systems characterized by high-end performance, reliability, availability, scalability, security
Contributions in external forums (conferences, publications, blogs, open source) is desirable
Strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills
Strong Technical leadership qualities
Ability to learn new topics quickly
Self directed, highly motivated individual
