Linux Engineer

Linux Engineer will work in our growing service platforms organization that deploys newly developed Nokia mobile internet services to our global network of data centers. The Linux Engineer will work with R&D development organizations through handing off monitoring of internet services to Service Operations teams.
Nokia's services encompass five areas: Music, Games, Media, Social Location and Messaging. The Services division also encompasses several sub-units: People and Places, Services Platforms, Service Experience, and Strategy & New Business.

Skills/Requirements: 
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or MIS or equivalent experience.
3 + years of technical experience working in a unix systems administration.
Strong scripting/automation skills in perl, shell, or python (other languages are a plus)
Ability to mentor/train other team members
Experience supporting high availability 24x7x365 application production in a N-tiered environment, Linux.
Experience in web service and/or digital commerce environments is a plus
Ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization
Clear understanding of the lifecycle of software based services
Ability to interface with developers, testers and systems administrators
Skill at presenting information to PM and business team via wiki, MS Powerpoint or Word (as needed).
ITIL certified preferred
Some project management experience preferred
Computer Science degree or equivalent preferred
Functions/Responsibilites: 
Plan, execute and document deployment projects to deliver pre-production and production environment (servers, applications and tools) including major configuration changes
Review the solution requirements & documentation
Establish connectivity, configure gateway, and validate end to end solution
Provide Operational test plan
Ensure smooth handoff to operations group (training and documentation)
Offer various level of technical support to sales, product management, professional services & requirement specialist
Proactively raise flag when issues/request are preventing the delivery dates to be met, need support on dependencies
