Systems Administrator

Skills/Requirements: 
2-3+ years experience administering Linux/UNIX systems and applications
In-depth technical knowledge of and experience with RedHat variants, preferably RHEL/CentOS
Expertise supporting and designing web applications using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl) infrastructure
Experience designing, maintaining, and deploying environments for J2EE applications preferably using Tomcat or JBoss
Strong knowledge of UNIX scripting and automation
Ability to write and debug complex SQL queries
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce usable and maintainable documentation
Demonstrate problem solving abilities and initiative
Ability to deliver projects on schedule
Strong knowledge of networking as it relates to systems and security

Experience with mod_perl based applications in a high volume, production environment
Experience supporting multiple Linux variants (preferably RedHat, Debian, Gentoo, Slackware, Suse) and other UNIX based operating systems (BSD, Solaris, etc.)
MySQL database administration experience
Strong networking background and experience working with load balancers
Experience writing and maintaining Perl, PHP, Ruby, Java, and/or C scripts or applications
Solid understanding of risk management practices (ITIL) and how they apply to service level agreements
Functions/Responsibilites: 
Architect, design, and implement all production and pre-production infrastructure solutions
Work with system/network architects and software engineers to define requirements and standards
Develop and implement plans for deploying new services in a highly automated environment
Work with the team to investigate and improve security and performance as it relates to applications and processes
Provide 24/7 operational support for all of the company's production servers and services
Research, test, and implement new technologies to support the application architecture
Maintain effective working relationships with other IT Staff members, internal customers and technical staff at collocation providers. Maintain professional relationships with all vendors Skills

Skills/Requirements: 
3+ years experience of Linux systems administration.
Knowledge of Linux/UNIX scripting and automation.
Some experience of using and administering Windows.
Familiarity with Ethernet networks (including switch and router configuration)
Good core knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Internet applications (DNS, HTTP, FTP etc.)
Some experience of configuring and administering Web services and Internet applications (e.g Apache web server, BIND).
The ability to learn quickly and to work unsupervised for periods.
Experience of Web application support.
Familiarity with MySQL.
Experience administering Debian GNU/Linux.
Datacentre administration experience.
Familiarity with monitoring applications (e.g. Nagios).
Experience of automated deployment/provisioning (e.g. Puppet, cfengine).
Functions/Responsibilites: 
Maintain our office network
Help support our development, testing and production environments. This will eventually involve participation in a call rota.
Provide some desktop support and assistance to non-technical staff in extracting data and reports from our systems.
